Open ended idea
Allow students to see themselves represented in the arts curriculum, stop teaching ‘old white men’ in art history. Explore global art outside of the stereotypical activities, bring in guest artists and performers to provide real world workshops and life experiences. Collaborate with the other subjects so students understand how art and design is entwined in all parts of life, from the cup you drink coffee out of to the building you go to school in, everything is designed. Art and Design, music and performance all require a knowledge of math, language, history, culture to be able to really provide successful outcomes. The school curriculum today needs to allow subjects to flow into each other as they do in daily life for our students as they become independent adults.
